Hi all.

Under the bonnet today messing about with bits and bobs and heard a hissing sound. It's coming from the pipe labelled 6 on the eas which I believe is the pipe to the reservoir. F on the picture.

Depending on how you move the pipe makes it better or worse. If I push the pipe really hard into the collet, the leak stops. However, I'm not up at all on the EAS and I can't find the answer on here or google. I assume that either or both the collet and O-ring are no good. My question is, how much air is in the reservoir? Can I just pull the pipe out of the collet and get on with sorting it with a new collect and O ring, or is depressurizing the eas needed to do any work?

I've currently pulled the EAS timer relay from under the passenger seat and replaced it with a standard 4 pin relay to stop the suspension doing anything after locking the car and thus potentially waking the BECM constantly.

Do I need to be seeking garage assistance or is this a job I can fix at home?

Thanks very much

Chris

Looks like it has been over trimmed. The sleeve on it should be nowhere near the retaining collet. You can just pull the pipe but there is quite an amount of air in the tank. Cover your eyes if you do this. Remove or slide back the sleeve and see what you have.

sorry. I should have said that the picture above is generic from google. Its not a picture of my EAS. I just used it so we could be clear what I was pointing at.

So if I push back the collet and pull the pipe, is all of the air in the system going to empty? I don't fancy ending up with an EAS fault as I haven't got the gear to fix that.

The air in the tank is going to empty for sure. You should not get a EAS fault providing you do it with the ignition off. After you have done your repair leave a door open and start engine, compressor should start to fill tank. Wait five minutes or so before getting in and shutting door and all should be back to normal.

Just ordered O ring and collet from land rover. Noticed the compressor is rather hot. 2 hours since I parked it up. I assume this is because its running more often to compensate for the leak?

Thanks Wammers!

Hope you mean O'rings there are two in each outlet. Yes maybe but keep an eye on it.
