Hello, Just after a bit of info.. I've searched the forum on "Slow riser" and "Pump" etc. but I'm not sure if its the same problem as I have..

I haven't been using the Range Rover as much recently but I went out to it last week and noticed the suspension was all still up (still in normal ride height) which, I thought must be a good thing.

Trouble is, when I try to adjust the height (extended, or to access and then back to normal) it takes a Very long time to move.

Now what's weird about this is if I leave it to idle for a few minutes, the pump turns off as normal and stays off, even when I adjust the heights (which are now working fast) Until it, as I call it, runs out of steam.. and then the pump comes back on and it takes another few minutes to pump itself up enough to adjust the heights again..

My question is, does this sound like the pump is worn, or is there a leak somewhere in the reservoir? (all of the air bags are fine - also can't see/hear any leaks in the pipes)

Thanks in advance,

Matt.

I'm not offering this as the official diagnosis of your suspension behaviour, rather an observation. I park my r rvr immediately next to a neighbour's r rvr and mine stayed higher for ages after parking. I've recently serviced mine and replaced the filters on the unit. The suspension now lowers more quickly. There'll be a technical explanation for this, I'm sure. regs. P.S

Sounds like a worn compressor to me - take it off and take it apart, the PTFE seal will probably be worn very thin or torn.

Ok thanks - will do later on, guessing its quite easy and there's no chance of damaging anything?

Should the system hold air in when the car is not running? In the reservoir tank, As when I go back to it, after a while being parked, there is clearly no air stored, so the pump has to work over time..

Also, mine is a 1995 model. Did they change the way the self levelling system works at some stage? As others I have seen (mainly newer) raise and lower slightly every time a door is opened (engine off) Where as mine only seems to try and level by dropping the other sides..

Thanks,

Matt.
