P38A EAS query (1996 4.0)

Hi all,

does the EAS system remain 'active' with the ignition off?

I've had a couple of flat battery issues recently and have noticed that the EAS appears to adjust itself when the doors are opened (can hear the solenoids clicking) on occasion.

Does the EAS remain active even when the ignition is off and the key removed? Wondering if I've got a problem that might be keeping the BECM alive and consequently dragging the battery down.

Yes, the system will re-awaken every 6 hours to relevel itself....

Best way to test is to remove the timer relay from under the passanger seat....if you still get a drain, it ain't that and is most likely the RF receiver constantly waking the BeCM up!

Unless you have generation 3 receiver (green dot and 2 boards at right-angles inside) then do Brian's 12V remote switch trick!
