I have owned Pajero, Delica, Patrol and Land Cruiser and they cost twice as much to own. I think you simply bought the wrong one. Mine has it's quirks but I will get it all ironed out. Then again the receipts with mine could be verified and the parts equally be seen to have been fitted. i.e new air bags, aircon rad etc etc

I was staggered to find out that 4 o/e shock absorbers cost just £100 - P38 bits seem to be very good value. Drove a friend's Land Cruiser recently it felt more like a Defender than a Rangie. He's had it from new (2001), has done 110K miles and it's on its third cylinder head - as they say indestructible...

Sounds like someone offloaded a pile off to you. There are plenty of decent P38s about, don't blame the car for lack of diligence on your behalf when buying it. Toyotas are soulless and boring - the cars might not break that often, but I'd die of boredom driving one.

Nice to see a few more poeple defending the P38, it's restored my faith in it a bit!!!! I was worried for a while.....

In all fairness I bought it as a none runner, I was just told many lies.. I'm not that worried about it, It was still cheap enough even given the headaches (I won't buy a none runner unless it's too cheap to miss..), what's really gettin to me is that these days i'm struggling to find any spare cash to get on with it.. so it's just sitting there... filling my garage....

I've got a tyre to have fixed (It went flat in the garage one night and won't blow up... strange) then I'll get it out of the garage and start trying to find the issue with the air suspension..
