I put a new battery in today and when starting up afterwards, the dreaded "Max 35mph..." appeared, All three lights on the height sensor are lit. There was no problem with the system previously.
What could of caused this? anyone have any ideas?
I'm taking it to my local indie tomorrow for a reset (£40!!). I just want to make sure that if I did anythong wrong, I won't do it again.

Not got the handbook in front of me atm but I know there is a procedure to follow for removing the battery, don't forget it could be coincidence

The special procedure is only for if you have the battery back-up alarm fitted.

I do know when I have had the battery disconnected on my P38, upon reconnection and starting the engine, apart from all the beeping about the windows not being set I had the SLOW: 35MPH MAX message flash up for about 2 seconds before dissapearing.

It scared the hell out of me as at the time I reconnected the battery it was late and nobody would of been able to reset the fault. I guess the car is down on the bump stops and everything now??

That's right. I drove the 20 odd miles to the garage (mostly motorway) & felt confident enough to get up to around 60mph  The testbook thing can't communicate with the vehicle though. The garage reckons there is a fault with the socket or wiring in the vehicle. It's booked in for repair in 4 days time.

hi mate you say they cannot communicate with it first thing to check is the relay under the passenger seat see if you have power to it had same on mine bout a new relay wipe codes everything fine now, oops shouldnt have said that should i you watch everything go down now hope this helps

Thanks Steve. I took this out and put it back, all is fine now. I just got a new one (in case it happens again) and had the codes wiped. EAS is fine now.
