EAS goes up and down no faults.

Hawkeye shows a sensor front right, so assuming the sensor has gone funny.

I am going to take it off and clean it and connection.

Any other stuff to watch out for?

Do you mean hawkeye show a front right sensor fault?
Just clean the connector, (NOT with WD40!) and gently move the arm through it's full movement back a forth a few times.
You would be better off with the RSW EAS software and cable.

Hey, thanks. Yes defo a shows a fault with the front right sensor. Has done for a while, but EAS always worked, so ignored it for more urgent work.

Yes, you are right I need to get one of those cables..
 
Hawkeye can also show height reading from each sensor (I've no idea in what units but as long as they're consistent). All 4 should be within spitting distance and from L to R on each axle should be identical. Also Hawkeye lets you reset height calibrations to some stored defaults which is not as good as actual height calibration using blocks but good enough. Does need the sensors to be working though!

Just a thought, you say its shown the fault for a while, I suppose it is possible that someone changed the sensor before you bought it but did not fit it correctly. I did that and was getting silly readings. Easy enough to fix. Have a thread on it in here somewhere.

You do know that DATATEK is your best source for the cable and software?
He's always very careful not to spam on here but the truth is that he supplies a longer cable than any on ebay, he tests every one before despatch, he burns the software onto a disc along with a copy of RAVE and a guide to replacing the airbags.

Other cables are available . . . but !

I didn't know that. I'll clean the sensor today and refit. If that fixes it, all good. If not, I will place an order with Datatek. I am fitting his fan mod, just ordered all the bits.
 
So overnight, none of the height dropped but as you can just about see from the photos, the front right is down. I lifted the car to the top and down at all times, the front right was lower. So defo thinking sensor now.

You will never get identical readings across an axle unless Hawkeye is making them up.

+1 the readings are irrelevant unless you are comparing from last readings mine vary quite a lot get the cable and software from Datatek and calibrate using a steel ruler then use the readings as a reference point - good luck
 
May just need re-calibration to level it up.


Maybe, I am getting a sensor fault on the diagnostic. But you are right will need to do that, as Hawkeye has some calibration mode, but not sure this will be something I trust. Really need a plug in, push a button and it is done!

I'm afraid that is not possible, I also did not think Hawkeye could do calibration.
Unless you make test blocks, it's done with a measure and trial and error.:eek:

Yes, version 5/6 has some calibration setting. Does that software with your lead do it? Or do you have to start from scratch with the blocks? :eek:

The RSW software allows you to do all the adjustments but you still need a measure, I use a length of wood suitably marked, or you can get setting blocks made up. It's not hard with a measure once you get used to it. The RSW software allows running the compressor for testing, reading clearing faults which are presented in plain English, reading actual sensor values, reading and setting all heights individually, locking the suspension etc. You need my cable as well of course and the CD I supply also has my airbag replacement guide and a copy of RAVE covering Defender, P38 and early L322:)
