EAS Driver Pack Install

Has anyone come across a write up on replacing the EAS Driver pack? I have some basic questions.

1. Can do the whole job in situ? or do I need to remove the EAS box?

2. Is there any other job that should be done whilst doing the driver pack replacement?

3. Do I need the RSWSolutions software?

4. Any tips ?

Good idea to have the software to hand in case of problems. I haven't done it but it looks fairly easy to get the driver pack out with the EAS box in situe.

I am not a mechanic, but do get fairly involved in fixing my beloved P38. I had two driver packs replaced, when they were not really the problem. After replacement, I still had the "rising to Wade Height" and then the "Christmas Tree Lights" coming on which necessitated resetting with the RWS software. What fixed the problem was having to use the "Slealers" "height blocks" to reset the sensors. I tried the RWS software to do this, but had no success. It would appear that each driver pack is held in "memory" in the vehicle computer operating system and I had to physically reset the EAS ride heights with the "blocks". Hope this of help to you?

The Driver Pack is just that, a driver for the solenoids that amplifies the signals from the EAS ECU to a level that will operate the solenoids. I have no idea what your problem was, but re-calibration of the suspension can easily be done without the blocks, it just takes a little patience to get it right.

Is it necessary to re calibrate the suspension after changing the driver pack?
What do I need to do with the software?

Should not be any need to re-calibrate, but if you do the RSW software will do the job, you need a laptop and cable plus a USB to serial adaptor or cardbus to serial adaptor if your laptop does not have a serial port.
