Hi All,

...To cut a long story short I've been told I need a new rear offside suspension airbag fitted. I know a reputable garage that specialises in LR/RR repairs but I have this overwhelming urge to fix it myself. I am slightly drunk typing this so whether it's my bravado or my logic talking is hard to differentiate. So my question is whether anybody has had prior experience of fitting these badboys themselves and what to look for/any tips etc. I was told I'd need a couple of hours/some serious jacking equipment to complete the job. Any help or advice or offers of coming over and fitting it for payment in beers is very welcome.

Replaced all four on mine, took about 5 hours, but I had one rear stubborn one which needed a large crowbar to get it to part company with the chassis.
Air Spring Replacement

If your a bit handy with the spanners, have axle stands , worth doing, you can down load instructions on this site..... I bought my air bags from Island4x4,.
Do some research ... All doable.

yep easy..(if pin comes out!!make sure you have new pins and copper slip)

do both rears at same time, maybe even all 4..bet the rest going soon if not done

oh need GOOD axle stands to support chassis and decent jack..

again range rover net for details (rangerovernet)

have to support chassis and axle...support axle to remove wheel to gain access,,support chassis so as when depressurise it dont fall on you and chop hands off etc..

Oh yes jack up the axles, not by the chassis... As it will throw out your height sensors and will need resetting

Sorry Paul, that is not correct. Unless the shocks are shagged they limit the axle travel so there is no effect on the sensors. If that were not so the height sensors would fail off road at max axle articulation:)

person thinking of doing job..its easy go read up..safty is the issue..full instructions/pics etc on yankie site ranger rover net.....
