Holy thread resurrection BatMan.

Did we ever get to the bottom of this compressor running under braking thing? Mine does exactly the same, and I’m a little worried it’s on too much.

I’ve got no leaks I can see. She stays up for at least 48 hours with the relay pulled.

I’ve had to replace 2 bits of pipe recently, but as far as I can see I’m leak free. My compressor seems to run A LOT though. And as soon as I take my foot off the brake it stops.

I know Wammers claimed no connection, but mine does it regular as clockwork at the moment. Is this a tell tail for a failing driver unit or something else??

Get it parked on flat ground and while it's running monitor it's height adjustment if any. If it constantly raises and lowers suspect height measurement or a duff sensor.
👍

Solid as a rock whilst just sitting on the drive. I’ve monitored the live data from the sensors on the Nanocom, and they’re pretty steady.

I just think the compressor is running a lot…. And it also runs when slowing to a stop, and then always stops when I take my foot off the brake.

I have spent ages going through the search section on this site, for anything about the e.a.s. compressor pump.
And it seems that there is no definite answer on how long the e.a.s. compressor pump should run/cycle for, whilst vehicle is being driven.
Now some say that when the air tank is full, there should be enough pressure stored for 3 changes in ride height before the pump activates again.
Others say that it is alright for the pump to be running on and off most of the time !
Now my pump ( with new seal ) runs for about 30 seconds and then stops for say 5-10 seconds continuously whilst being driven,is that good or bad i wonder ?

So is anyone interested in noting and placing in this thread how long their pump starts and stops, so we can all see the average time the compressor pump is running for in real world figures ?
Cheers Andy..

I took a trace with the Nanocom at some stage. I think I came to the conclusion it could run between 10% and 30% of the time.

I understood that height changes are generally stopped during braking except between 1-5mph. Then when stationary if brake is on, changes are stopped for 3 mins or until brake is released.

Hence if the tank is below pressure switch point, the pump will run during braking. Once the car stops & brake released, it will stop the compressor & level the car, i.e. level the fronts L-R first, and then adjust the corner heights.

Both my P38 EAS are well sealed with no traceable leaks, but I still think the pump runs too much. It would be interesting to see how a 100psi switch (cannot find one) would impact things, as the only time the car actually needs 140psi in the tank is when raising from bump stops or access.

It might be that my compressor is noisier than it was so I'm noticing it more. It used to be that I coudln't hear it at all, but that was 100,000 miles ago. Maybe new mounts would help more than new airbags!

Mine seem to vary on noise level. I have also tried the original & later mounts according to the LR TSB. Later version mounts are quieter when new, but fail sooner than the older design for some reason.
