I have taxed off the new keeper slip in the past, as regards the MOT certificate any MOT station can give you a copy (for a fee) and it should not be any bother.

showed the coppers the forms and letters gone back and forth with the DVLA and they looked disgusted and said thats typical of them
they also said theres no way of getting the reg from the chassis number and told me to play their game but im fooked if im forkin out more money to them lousy twots

got it sorted after a huge investigation wich involved a ringing operation somewhere wich they wouldnt tell me the particulars of for legal reasons but found out my landy is an early 60s series 2 with a series 3 bulkhead and front end on it and a 70s ex MOD recon engine block
wich under the points scheme i ended up with a vosa official come round with the original v5 for my chassis and running gear had me fill it in with him and send it back to his office to be changed over to me gave me the original number plates and stamped the number into my chassis corresponding to the v5
the only thing thats missing is the aluminium plate that screws to the bulkhead with the chassis number on but i was told thats not the most important bit due to the chassis being officialy stamped
so in short yeah its sorted i just need to get through an MOT now

Sounds like the DVLA actually did a good job, Went out of their way to sort you out and found out a ringer somewhere.

I got a very similar thing to go through. My little 80 inch has a vin plate and original chassis (been galvanised & I think new dumbirons) but I have no reg and I would really really like a reg for it. On the points system I have only changed the engine V8 so 1 point so I think I should be ok.......

theres an easier simpler way for you to obtain this
send the chassis number a few piccies and a nicely written letter to the motor heritage museum at gaydon ( can be found with a little googling ) asking for a build date certificate wich they will send to you
you then need to send a copy of this certificate to DVLA swansea with the appropriate application form for an age related registration number wich they should issue to you for a small fee but be prepaired for them to request an IVA test just to prove you have a complete vehicle that matches what is described and does fit in with the points scheme
it should be plain sailing for you

Johnny, given that you now have proof yours is an early sixties series 2 you should be able to get a vin plate from the nice people at the series 2 club.
