bought a carawagon from a supposed land rover specialist and restorer back in december 2011, said he would send me the reg document and its history, still not received it and think the guy's gone bust. now just looking at the new registration documents online that came out last year i was wondering wether it is still a simple task of applying viaa a v62 form and sending £25quid or is it as i think been made tougher for us. things like changing engine sizes and fuel used to be easy but it seems now they require receipts for engine or letter from garage to confirm changes, anybody shine a light on this

I think its still pretty simple but I always ring the DVLA first - they are usually incredibly helpful

ring the DVLA. As far as engine swaps go, when I did it last year, in Feb, you need EITHER a receipt for the engine, with the chassis number and engine number of the car it's come from, OR a receipt form the garage that's done the work, OR a letter from a VOSA accredited testing station to say that all's in order, OR confirmation from the manufacturer.

interestingly they'v always required notification of engine changes, and always required notification form a testing station so that they believe you. If you're going to end up changing tax classes then you have to do it in person at a DVLA office
