Possibly but because she started right up last night after being stood 12 hrs odd I can't really see it. Plus the bad start then the 12 hrs stood was just a 30 sec tick over so no latent heat in the block.
I'll get to the bottom of it when I've some spare time.
Might order a set of plugs anyway ,gonna need them at some point, beru in at the mo but they could be years old but all tested good during the recommission . Bosch duratherms are recommended I believe.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Bosch

Some findings.
Number 1 injector well full of diesel again, looks like my quick repair of lobbing the dodgy end off the fip to the injector didn't work, it had gone too soft further up than I thought so didn't seal around the nipple very good. When I got the spare leak off tubing out of the garage I noticed that the style is very different. Both are marked Gates with the same id number but the smooth stuff that has rarely given issues in the past, that I got from my local indy, is made in France. The crinkley finished stuff that I got off ebay as it was much cheaper than my indy is made in Turkey.

Hmmm. The stuff I have is crinkly. The best stuff was from Dopey's polish chap. He used to get some whenever he went back to Poland. I think that was Bosch but he couldn't get it here.

Not heard anything off the seller yet but its early days. If I hear nowt in a week I'll sacrifice myself for the good of men and buy a bit and see.:D

Was that the reinforced stuff?

I wonder if the airflow under the inlet manifold is a little restricted so the pipe gets hot.
Might be something in that .
After a 2 day stand she fired straight up, when I returned home after a 20 mile run I popped the bonnet to check for leaks, all good, but the leak off from the fip to number one was much hotter than the others, an hour or so later it was still warm, the others were stone cold.

Thats food for thought as thats the one I've had trouble with in the past too

So potentially we could bolt something to the chassis leg to deflect air up there. Another thing for my low priority to-do list!

I've had a pic from the seller, writing on the pipe is French, so good stuff, but it looks crinkly, so bad? Stuff, but not as crinkly, so ....feck it, I've sacrificed myself for the good of my fellow diesel p38ers and ordered a metre:D

Pipe has come but it's crinkly.
Further observations....had a look see at number one injector again and I appear to have a little diesel in the well again AND the new smooth leak off pipe is going soft around the nipple. I can't be sure I got all the fuel out of the well last time to be fair though. Further looking and tutting required. Still starting on the button though.

Brian puts cable-ties on. I haven't bothered yet but I will keep an eye on it.
