l322 vogue 04,need advice on Dsp Amplifier [audio].No sound out of system at all..cd,tv,radio,sat nav all seemed to be working but not a even a squeek out of speakers..sat nav stopped working alltogether..looked at it and it was wet..so took it out !! tv,radio.cd still working ..but no sound...unplugged Dsp amp under sat nav to find it also has water damage but only on plugs.I am not bothered about sat nav,but no music or radio !! so i need to find replacement amp or is there a similar aftermarket job out there to suit my set up.. any advice would be music to my ears !!

if you search the forum for dsp amp -there is supposedly a bmw part number available

Scrapyard then or see if it is repairable
MattStevenson seems to be into all things l322

Cheers Fanatic for the recommendation! :)

With regards to the DSP amp problem, when you have everything connected do you have DSP listed on the centre console screen? When you press the left hand side button to turn the radio on does the orange light next to the button come on?? Have you checked the micro fuse in the radio module in the rear compartment? the radio module is used as a pre amp for all things audio in the car, power for the amp is supplied from the radio module, so if this fuse is damaged then the DSP amp will not work.

The only way to get a replacement amp is either buy new, keep checking ebay or contact some break yards.

Good Luck and let me know how you get on

Matt

Do what I did. Don't listen to people who say it doesn't work but have never tried....

I paid £120 for a Lear DSP amp (Same make as the LR ones) from the US.

Considering BMW DSP amps go for £250 on ebay and LandRover DSP amps go for £400 it was a bargain.

Make sure you get a Lear one, not a Philips/Ulowe one. The would work, but the boards are of lesser quality.

Good info.. thanks waitey / mattstevenson2005..i have taken amp out so i can repair corroded damaged male connector pin on top...as soon as thats done i can see if theres any power running through it at all. When i opened it up to my surprise no water damage inside,it looks like the water had just been sitting in plugs so it may still work...?

That sounds like it'll be fine.

The plugs were so corroded on mine the pins had broken off. Plus there had been a lot of water in it at some point.

Clean the plugs up and test it, if it works cover the plugs, wires going into them with loads of vaseline.

guys, I only have a lowly 2002 HSE and 2 of the pins have snapped off the connector due to corrosion. The amp works perfectly otherwise. Just no sound going to the left hand side fr adn Rear speakers.

the amp has the LR part no. XQK000020 (086496060 002920 01).
It also says Lear (manufacturer?)and HIPO L30 Land rover 20531 underneath the bar code. It only has one port in the top (2 rows of 5 broad spades and 2 double rows of 8 narrow pins) as there are only 6 speakers in all I think.

What is the relevant BMW/other OEM part number as a straight replacement or what else can I use? Can I just replace the connector as that's where the problem lies

Also, can I use any other manufacturer (alpine etc.) and convert the leads?

There are a few 20's that come up cheap on eBay.

Or just solder some wires into where the pins have snapped off and simply bypass the plug.

Well i finally got sound back..took out amp and soldered on new post at male connection end.Luckily it looks like water or condensation was sitting in tops of plugs i;e corroded them and messed them up a bit.I replaced 1 broken post by soldering a very small piece of brass welding rod shaved down to look like peg pointed at one end, then on the female end [where the old broken off bit was] i soaked in wd40 for a couple of days then used self tap scew and got that out.Only thing is sat nav does not work but i think i did the no no and unplugged it when light was still on !!Wondering if i can get upgrade sat nav ??...so anyone out there suffering this amp problem..before you just get a replacement..give it ago yourself !!! Hello guys

I am a new member of this forum and I hope you can help me with this common problem we have on L322 amps..

A new amp from the dealer is 850 euros so I searched the ebay to find a used one..

I found some BMW amps from ebay but I'm not sure if are the right for my car.

The part number of my amp is XQK000020 ( 086496060 LEAR HIPO L30, HARDWARE: 01, FREQ: L30)

And I've found these 2 on ebay:
BMW 3 series E46 HI-FI amplifier AMP Lear OEM AudioHigh - eBay (item 250755702815 end time Feb-10-11 10:18:18 PST)

BMW E46 AMP AMPLIFIER LEAR 330CI 325CI 330I OEM 325I - eBay (item 140473324941 end time Mar-02-11 00:00:28 PST)

My question is: Are they going to work by programming them only from the dealer?

Thanks

P.S. My car has also navigation system.

Thanks for your reply and you info but... I'm not local.. I'm from Cyprus..

But I will give it a try.. I have some friends in England. Post the tel. numbers if you find.

I prefer doing the trip to England to find a used one rather buying a new one from the dealer..

I seem to be living in a parallell universe but two months delayed.
Pin 8 broken off in 15 pin connector (+12V), was all corroded.
The MK3 sat nav seems dead too, worked some weeks ago but has since suffered both from some water ingress and flat battery during starting attempts so this could have messed that nav unit up. I have a MK4 nav I can swap in until I have the cherished MK3 one fixed or replaced. I will have the DSP out this evening.

Some photos from the DSP resurrection.
I decided to add a new 12V cable from within the case. I found a wide enough 12V PCB trace and brushed off some laquer. I soldered a nice blob there and on the heavy gauge wire end, then took great care to solder these together with
a fluid solder joint. That section of PCB can carry the current needed. I routed a wire so it exits the unit at the bottom where the most convenient hole could be drilled. Then this lead will be soldered to a so called Dean´s connector (commony used for high current LiPo battery applictions). with a mating Deans connector soldered to the 12V lead of the DSP harness with some nice crimp hose detailing so that the new arrangement can be taken apart if ever needed.

Now installed and DSP is back on screen, audio is fine. Now only the Mk3 nav remains to restore, I have an Ebay unit coming in.
