Anyone else drowned their cd player in a disco 1? I dried everything out, it now works for the first 10-15 seconds absolutly fine thru all four speakers then has a head fit and starts crackling and making horrid noises followed by dropping to the two rear speakers... just wondering if its likely to be the unit thats fooked or the speaker wiring shorted somewhere?? any ideas welcomed :)

Mine died a few years back after a little water ingress :D

I've just left it mostly dead (sounds like yours, but I get just front speakers for a few seconds then nothing). I will at some point take the thing out and have a look.

How did you drown it? was it because you had been wading at the time.
If so did you have Muddy Waters playing at the time:D:D:D:D:D:D

Very good!! lol Yes it was a little damp you could say!
I took it out and removed leads and front etc and put it in the airing cupboard for a few days but its still fooked so i guess i'll be buying a new one! lol

Sometimes electronics can be thoroughly dried and expected to work again, but not if there's mud and salt involved!

When I was into wading I simply used to take radio out, cos the radio area is a great water collector!

I did wet my radio once but dried it before turning it on and it seemed sweet!

well... the unit was fooked, on the off chance thought I'd be cheeky and take it back to the popular auto shop that I purchased it from... the helpful man in orange exchanged it for me! :bounce:

Oh right! However my experience is that wading sends water over bonnet and heater ducts deliver a good scoop right into the radio recess.

Many a time have I had water on the tunnel without getting more than a splash in the footwell.

Those were the good old days when I used to go that deep and not worry about my alternator! :)

Replaced 2 alternators, 3 starter motors, various relays, an electric window motor, very wet feet and a wet arse too! Water was level with the trans tunnel inside :) all the relays and electrics are waterproofed as i go balls deep on a regular basis but tbh I'm fed up with replacing stuff so i might pack in soon too.. dont think they'll give me another cd player! ;)
