Need to replace the rubber boot on the drop arm ball joint. Having removed the split pin and castle nut i was thinking that the steering damper bracket should just lift off giving access to the boot but oh no. After liberal use of wd40 and hammer it still refuses to lift off. Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong or how to get this off?
Got MOT on Tuesday and worried that a perished boot will mean a fail.

Put a good amount of pressure with a bottle jack, and then hit the side where the 2 come together should pop out. But some copper coat on it when you put it back together.

as said above nearly ,hit end of drag link near were ball joint goes through hard several times till joint pops out ,its held by slow taper
