drivers door clicking d2

Hello folks. When I got my d2 both front doors were clicking like mad. My local Indy told me it was the check plate so he ordered me a new one for drivers door and it was still same when fitted. So he replaced the pins this stopped the passenger side making a noise but the drivers door still does it after new check plate and pin. My cousin had a look and he says it is play in the actual part thats joined onto the chassis that the pin goes through after years of opening and shutting even stuck a small screw driver in the area to take up the play and the noise disappeared. Is there any repair out there or is it a they all do that sir lol.

I have also changed the check plate but still the same

The bracket on the body was snapped off but after several unsucesful welds etc. by garages have now made up my own brackets which hold but still click - have learned to live with it

Most of the early D2's do this at one time or another.

Cheers guys. My cousin suggested drilling the check plate out and then fitting a bigger split pin in but I think I will just live with it

I drilled mine out and put a tapered, hardened steel pin in.That stopped it.
