Hi, I wonder if anyone could help? I have a 2004 TD4 3 door sport. When going at slow speed (less than 20mph) and i turn the steering lock either direction i get an extra noise from the drive train. It sounds either like something rubbing, or just noisier as if there is extra loading on the drive system. Once you turn the wheel straight again it goes away.
I had the car jacked up so all the wheels could run freely, turn the steering wheel both ways, but i couldn't hear the noise.
Any advice would be very welcome.

How many miles? Is there any record of a new VCU in its history?

Perform this test for a start, it may seems daunting but it's not difficult and could save you alot of money.

Checked the VCU last night by jacking up the back driverside wheel and i could spin it. Not very easily but i could.
I then changed the tyres around. I did have the good ones on the front, but after reading some of the forums it recommends i have the good tyres on the back.
The noise doesn't seem as bad now, only thing is it seems to be there more than just when i turn the steering wheel.
So reading some of the above threads i think i will go do some reading.

It was Land Rover that said put the good tyres on the back ;)
They also advised swapping the left and right rear tyres to reduce tyre noise!!
