Got back to my flat today, no where to park so i reversed and turned round to find that i could only go forward if i reved the engine, then it would shunt into drive. The same thing now happens in reverse. There seems to be no 'clunck' into gear as befor and the gear box fault message now appears on the dash. HELP!!!!!!

What colour is the tranny fluid, it should be a nice red colour if it's discolored brownish it's passed its best and may point to wear in the box, if I were you I would get it flushed through and replaced asap. I had similar probs with a toyota and it was fine after a fluid change.

I'd get a fluid and filter change then worry about it - it may just be time for a service on the auto box.
