Hi, new member here, wonder if someone can advise me please.
I have a 2000 X reg 1.8 gs freelander with 55,000 miles and 1 head gasket done.
When I pull away, in 1st or 2nd gear there is a clonking noise from the rear of the car when the drive is taken up. Generally the faster the pull away the more likely the clonk. If you are particulary smooth with the clutch you can pull away with no noise at all.
I'm guessing at propshaft rubber or driveshaft wear, anyone else had this?
And is it hugely expensive?
I keep thinking of selling the car but I do kinda like the old bus and the trade in prices are eye wateringly low, but theres always that nagging fear of further H/g failure.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
