Balls. In heavy slow traffic on M6 yesterday, Tensioner pulley takes early retirement, shreds belt, no Alt, No power steering, no water pump:eek:

Managed to get off M6 checked out damage and called RAC.

1 hour later, top bloke turns up, says he knows where he can get a new tensioner and off he goes. 1/2 hour later and only £65 poorer (had a spare belt!), I'm on the road again:D

Bad, naughty tensioner:mad: Good RAC dude:D

I have the front end off my A4 at the mo.

Did you keep the old one buy a new bearing on flebay and you got a spare, if not get your self a spare bearing for next time they are prone to failing.

Had that recently on my daily driver (rover 220). Was doing 70ish on the A12 at the time. Sounded like a pinball machine under the car, then dash light on (no alternator) steering and brakes very heavy. Was able to limp home at about 5mph. Pain in the arse job to replace on that though. Had to drill a hole in the inner wing to the Allen key bolt that holds it on.
