Hope that's it mate. Just to say the drag link length alters the tracking. So any change between old and new results in change of tracking. The chances of getting the old and new the same length are pretty slim I reckon.

Feckin' arse. Paid for all the bl**dy alignment to be done last month.

Right, booked in for Monday. Arse, arse and bl**dy arse.

Drag link doesn't alter tracking - the track rod that ties the two hubs together does...the drag link will alter steering wheel centre and subsequently steering box centre.

Thanks, Saint. Steering is slap bang in the centre and she doesn't wander off anywhere so reckon I am good then.

Check the alignment of the pitman arm a lot of places will do the tracking by altering the tie rod which puts the steering wheel off centre - they then correct this by altering the drag link length which leaves the pitman arm in the incorrect position at straight ahead - there are marks on the steering box to line up.

Another thing to consider is the lower steering shaft.

I think I might have found the the issue. I think the nearside drag link ball joint might be faulty. The nearside one when twisted slightly clicks when I wiggle it up and down. No movement at all on the offside one which is what I would expect.

Slight up and down movement of a TRE is acceptable as long as there is no lateral play.

Can't recall entirely but seems to think when I had issues a couple of time with juddering that were due to alignment the passenger armrest wobbled side to side. I don't think there was any juddering through the steering wheel.

Drag link assembly replaced and still doing it. Not quite as bad but same speed. Now beginning to think there is a bit of play in the off-side track rod end. I think the roads are just mullering any ball-joint, 4x4 or other.

Antirollbar links arrive tomorrow (hopefully) so might get a chance to swap them out. Failing that, TRE.

It is better but I still have a little wobble at a certain speed.

@wammers: replaced the whole drag link assembly: improved slightly. Wheels rebalanced: improved slightly. Anti-rollbar links replaced: no difference. There is ever so slight up/down in the offside balljoint on the track-rod. We're talking fractions of a millimetre but enough to move and click whereas the nearside has no movement at all. Can you get that ball-joint on its own off Lemforder? All I can see if the full track rod assembly? Any other ideas?

TRE is QFS000010. But don't go to Rimmers for it unless you have a good mortgage supplier. Loads on Ebay. Island etc.

Not worth replacing just one end of the track rod IMO as if one is worn the other will not be far behind it and when the fixed one fails, the new track rod will come with both ends.
Any movement in the joints and it's fecked.
