i've had my p38 for 11 years. I put the stainless exhaust on it about 9 years ago
It rotted and broke above the wheel arc on nearside rear . It a also melted and broke the air line to the rear. Air suspension. I was in France at the time on the first day of a holiday
That's when I found out it wasn't all stainless but mild steel connector blocks
I have to say that they weren't the best company to deal with but I had to return it for a repair. It cost over £200 to take it off repair the replace. Now it's happened again exactly the same today. Lucky I was only 3 miles from home
I will update thread when I find out what they are going to do about it.

Ok today ive had chance to drive the front left wheel onto a ramp and jack the rear left up and take off the wheel. Well I was just expecting the joint to be split above the axle but the whole piece between the centre box rear and the flange above the axle was missing. Completely rotted away and missing. Not a happy bunny (as well as recovering from a bad back) Rang Double S today who confessed they only used mild steel on the pipes between the boxes and now do proper stainless as they've had several break.
Sent photos and waiting for their response. When you pay stainless and is advertised as stainless you expect stainless. It cost £550 9 years ago.
Will fill you in with their response.

Double-S used to be the premium choice for Stainless Exhausts....sounds like everything else now-a-days...done cheap and charge the earth!

I recommended this company to some on here recently.....hopefully, following your experience and they now use all Stainless allround, they have seen the error of their ways and have gone back to being one of the most reputable SS suppliers!

Full stainless systems???????? with rusty welds have always made me laugh.
It is possible to get rust on a Stainless Weld if the weld pool wasn't adequately shielded during the arc....as during the arc the Chromium reacts with the impurities in the unshielded environment and doesn't flow into the weld pool to alloy with the steel correctly leaving the Stainless Steel in the area of the weld without the main compound that makes it Stainless in the first place!

you cant really call an exhaust system stainless if it is using mild steel tubing. it has stainless silencers but as a system. err no. its like ordering three courses in a resteraunt and getting a glass of water and a coffee as the first and third.

The other one is cheap arse stainless cons that have a stainless outer and mild steel inners.

I'd recommend Janspeed. Mine has been on 3 years now & still looks as fresh as the day it was fitted. Not cheap though at £490.

Yes because the welding is done in air rather than an inert gas chamber. God knows how much they would charge for them if they were welded properly. :(:(

Ok been in touch today and thet have been very good in dealing with the problem. They are sending out a new exhaust system and probably on a next day service.
This will be a complete stainless system and no mild steel tubing. They said that as it had already been repaired and failed again then a new one is coming my way.
I still had to have the original purchase receipt from 10 years ago which would be a bit of a sticky wicket for some of you who might have trouble in the future and its not transferable through sale.
So all I have to do is get under and do the job.
Looks like the collar around the cat outlet is shot. Can you get a collar that comes in two pieces ?

I was looking at one of their systems for when my current mild steel setup rots. Or after I finally get my tax back (should be around 2k) which I can use to beautify my RR.

its not transferable through sale.

That is something a lot of people seem to forget or are blissfully unaware of. The amount of sales for second hand stainless systems you see on line and I just sit there laughing that they're selling them with the life time warranty.

You mean like a V-Band?
