Ever since I had car, door locks go up and down every now an then as I drive
Got a new version remote reciever in case I was getting spurious signals. Made no difference.
Only one key fob worked ( I have 4) Changed batteries in keys. Made no difference.
Lost the wee rubber thingy that covers the fob buttons so used a plastic pen thing to press the buttons.
Now the wee buttons have stopped working and every now and then, when I unlock with the key, only the driver's door unlocks and the engine stays immobilised. Did the Martin Cox door lock tests on the driver's door and all ok
Anybody help?
Is it Mozz Smith who rebuilds keys?

MrSporty for keys. Sounds like the lock actuator is acting up. '95 will be the 2 plug version which is easy to fix. Might be the microswitches on the bottom or possibly the plug with the single black wire. Is that all good? Mine wasn't clipped in place properly when I got the car and the window regulator was fouling on it breaking the wire inside. That caused some funny behaviour.

I have a vague memory that @Datatek had some funny business traced to a dodgy boot switch and @tomcat59alan from a dodgy petrol button, even though the latter should have nothing to do with the locks.

hi oakey, its mr sporty who does the keys , will refurb them all for a small consideration and does excellent job ,,, sounds to me though apart from the keys that its the cdl microswitch in the drivers door pack . easiest thing is to send it to uk marty for an exchange unit which long term is a top class investment and whilst you have car stripped down check all connectors at a- frame access . also check no mice have been in there nibbling away at the wiring harness !!!!!!! , oh and make sure before everything is refitted that battery is fully charged min 14. 2 otherwise you will keep getting similar , and engine disabled , ok mate good luck ,if you need any further help on re-sync send me p.m. ,,, kind regards Mozz.

Check that the sill button, particularly on drivers door is not loose and floppy. It should have a smooth and positive action. If it is loose and bouncing around that can cause your problem.

Thanks for all your help
I did the tests on driver's door and all ok and I thought that meant the switches were ok
Looks like I need to strip it right down rather than just taking door card off.
Can the passenger door cause problems too?
The sill button seems to be positive.
I will ask Mr sporty to do his magic on the keys and then try re sync
Thank you again

If the locks are jumping up and down, then it's most likely the door latch. It could either be the drivers or the passenger one.
One way of telling is when it's doing it, see which one isn't moving as at least on later BECMs it won't trigger the latch that the input is coming from.

Even though the latch has passed my door latch tests - it won't necessarily pick up if you have in intermittent problem - which is what the jumping locks are. It will pick up if a switch is totally dead - but if it is changing state OK, then it will test as it's good - but the intermittent nature of the contacts in the switch when driving is what causes it to bounce the locks.

Hope that helps,
Marty

On the lock that caused the jumping problems on my P38, all 3 micro switches were electrically OK but the little black actuator button had disappeared on one. It would still actuate, but only just.

Until I changed my Drivers doorlock I had the phantom lock-cycling while driving and even when the car was sat on the drive all locked up.
The change of state of the CDL switch makes it think there has been a valid key action in the doorlock it seems. Sent my replaced defective unit to @martyuk for his stock.

Right not next week but week after I can put car off the road and change both driver and passenger locks.
