The door lock barrel fell out of my drivers door and I bought a replacement from a supplier on the Bay but they all seem to just have one type, part number RTC3032 which is shorter than my old one and doesn't have the threaded hole at the back. Can anyone tell me the part number for my old one?
Pic below has new barrel on the left and old on the right with its associated parts.

I have this job to do in the future and was looking at the sets on ebay as well. Going by the picture you have posted, does the new barrel fit inside the sleeve thats on your old one?

Yes it does fit the sleeve. The body, from the key down, seems the same it's the bit after that, that is a different shape and size and of course without the threaded hole on the end I have no way of securing it to my lever.

when i did mine (1991 defender) they were the same as the drawing, where number eight points to on the right of that drawing is a little brass pin, if you push that in, the other part of part 8 slides off and fits to the new barrel, and that makes it longer and has the threaded hole in it. hope this helps

Also to be able to get the screw in, number 10 on that drawing, i drilled a little hole through the door frame on the inside, this allows you to put a screw driver straight through and get onto the screw without having to take the window mechanism off - if that makes sense, if not i can get you some pictures.

Thank you. This explanation has been really helpful. I have gone out tonight and soaked old spare lock barrel in diesel which has freed off the brass pin which now moves on its spring and I can see where the two parts join so I hope I can free it off tomorrow. I have already ordered news ones but useful to have a spare and the knowledge of how they come apart:5bcheers2:

I think I may have answered my own question, seems I have early lift handle door lock barrels fitted to my later push button handles. Theses ones:
LAND ROVER DEFENDER EARLY LOCK BARREL & KEY SET (1984-1987) - MUC4146 | eBay

Not that it matters I guess but at least I now know what I need. Thanks for the contributions.:)

Yeah mine's a 1988 90 with the same barrels as yours but I bought a pair of new door handles off ebay that came with the same barrels as I already had but don't have any part number's :(

its normally the screw on the back of the barrel that unscrews its self and falls inside the door, got this to do on mine as my driver's door barrel keeps coming out :)

Hello Cornish Rattler, I have lost the screw from the back of the lock cylinder. Do you know what size this screw is? Thanks, Oz.
