OK, what's the secret of removing the hinge screws from the bulkhead side?

Started with screwdriver - it laughed at me.
Bigger screwdriver - no chance.
Club hammer and impact driver - still no movement.

Do you really have to drill the fekkers out and get noo'uns, just to adjust the door?

yup yer probably do, they just rust reet up and drilling them out is the easiest way to deal with em.
you can then buy stainless steel screws which should stop it happening in the future

first you need a big ferk-off screwdriver that fits propper -#4 Pozi (mine was).
put it in the screw head and belt it half a dozen times with a lump hammer.
then get a bif ferk-off pair of stilsons and an assistant.
one of you apply the stilsons to the screwdriver, to turn it, while the other heaves on the screwdriver to stop it from camming out of the screw head.

when that fails, get yer drill out.

replace screws and captive nuts with stainless ones smothered with copper grease.
