Hi guys
I know S2's and S3's have there own check rod's which are totally different to each other but what if like me you have a S2a with S3 doors, i've just bought an S3 door check rod with slider blocks and a bulkhead bracket thinking i could fit the bracket to the side of the scuttle where the door shuts to but it won't work as the door will only open about half way because where the bracket would be the rod would be to short, so what has everyone else done and have you got pic's please :)

Pic of what you have, it would help. Mine is ex-mil so the doors go to stops on the front wing. It has tubes for the rods on the bulkhead but these are not used.

Ok i'm going work now so will post a pic tomoz but i don't have the 2a check rods as the old bulkhead didn't have them fitted and i just replaced the bulkhead with a new galv one when doing the rebuild a couple of years ago

Here you go but i've had another look at it and think i will make my own bulkhead bracket / brackets, obviously i'm holding the door open with my foot as the bulhead bracket is being held in place with a magnet

I don’t have them fitted but you can see both series & 90 retainers on the door. Holes in the bulkhead for that black bracket.
(Don’t worry about my rust it washes off )

Cheer's Phill but i was trying not to drill through the galv bulkhead as it would be in the best place for rust but i've just done this not finished yet as it needs dressing up and painting

Hi, would they have worked if the black brackets were fixed to the door and the original check rods were used?
Possibly but i think the black bracket would have looked a bit out of place as there isn't much to bolt it to on the S3 door bottom and my 2a didn't have them fitted when i got it and quite hard to get hold of and as it happend the S3 doors are cheaper to buy than S2a doors but i am getting tired of the door touching the pillers when fully opened and worried it would ware the galv off :)

He does a bolt on version too. Rods and buffers readily available. Surely better than messing up a nice bulkhead with bodgery?

I couldn't find any on the usual places only expensive used ones which would require more money and work spending on them before I could fit them so this was the easiest option for me :)
