Does anyone offroad/greenlane their P38 or L322?

I bought my P38 last may and have since done 25000 miles through Europe and turkey and have had some very off road experiences on what are called stabalized roads in turkey and also some other tracks in Macedonia serbia and Greece also had to use snow chains occasionally Onlly had to dig it out once when snow packed under the front diff.

Interesting thread, I'm also considering selling my beast of a classic & buying an RR L322. I want a jack of all trades that can go green laning while at the same time travel up the motorway & also still a family vehicle.

Anyone got a L322 that they use offroad? Pics?

We go greenlaning in mine, gets everywhere my old 110 used to only in slightly more comfort :)

not had mine long but I have taken it to Frickley off road.

Nothing too extreme as it's standard and still on pirelli scorpions - got it well muddy tho'.

Compared to my previous truck (toyota landcruiser; 4.2TD with 3 diff locks, suspension lift and BF mudders) I am well impressed with how good the P38 is off road.

Just don't want to bend it!!!

I went for a Classic in the end and took it offroading this weekend, was also very impressed. The towbar did it's best impression of a plough, but it's better than hitting the petrol tank or LPG filler, so it's staying! Also, had I realised I had locked the suspension out earlier that day, I would have been in "offroad" mode affording me much more ground clearance - bugger!

I got rid of my 110 as it was spending more time in the garage than on the road, treated myself to a 54 plate L322, have taken it off road a few times, nothing to extreme as know it will cost lots if it breaks, but its been all good so far, it had grabber at2's on it when i bought it but couldnt find 2 replacements so bought a set of grabber at's cant fault them so far, not sure what like it would be on road tyres

Not mine, but this is a diesel p38a:

Here's a picture of mine.

I use it around a farm 2 - 3 times a week, although I don't think I needed to fit the muds just yet as it is all still so dry. However, having got them they had to go on.

They're pretty aggressive! Probably overkill TBH, unless your towing through deep mud or heading to a pay & play site!

What are they, Insa Turbo Sahara's?

They look uncomfortable on Tarmac ! Lol
Wouldn't dream of fitting AT to my L322 !
It wouldn't look right on my 20" stormers ! 

They are Malatesta Kobra's

It gets really muddy mid Nov through to about end of March and I regularly tow a game trailer. They might still be overkill, but I'd rather than than get stuck as often as I did last year in a Shogun on ATs.

They are not as noisy as I thought they would be. very slow speed you can feel the individual nobles, but between about 15 and 55 there isn't much noticeable increase in noise. I haven't been faster and I dont intend to take them anywhere near a motorway so don't really plan on finding out.

I'm pretty certain it is more down to the soundproofing in the p38, as a Landy I went in with the same tread pattern fitted sounded like it was being followed up Lyneham Banks by a Hercules flying just above it.

Had a weekend recently at the edge of the cotswolds (Wagtail farm) put my P38 off road(ish) only with Pirellie Scorpions, but had a good laugh.... I did bend my side steps up a few times........ and got grounded once.....

Hey why have them if you don't use them....

Pics are in an album on my profile
