Ok folks
My swb series 2a is ready to have its paintwork sorted,
in the past some vandal (last owner) painted it a weird colour, only vaguely
green, they also painted all and i mean all the galvanised trim silver!!
I would like to respray in bronze green.....is this a sanding off or can i use chemicals? not sure what top layer is but it was brushed on with a cat i reckon!
What do i do with the galvanised stuff?,
There are various stencils on it also as it had been chaved up a bit!
Still bulkhead was in great order!!
Any advice greatfully received

I used nitromors and wirewool to strip my SIII back to bare ali. took about a day per section (door, wing, bonnet) and 2 for the tub - and cost about £40 for two big tins of nitromors and a few more for steel wool.

dab the stuff on, give it 10 mins then a fair bit of elbow grease and bobs yer uncle. the cappings where a lot easier, paint doesnt seem to bond very well to them so I manged to get it off with a cloth after 10 mins soaking in stripper.

This months LRO (or maybe international??) has a feature on galv paint, from the article it looks good, but at £18 for a little tin....

I went to my local spray shop supplies and told em I wanted to roller or brush paint my landy wings and bonnet. He recommended I just flat the existing paint back and use a coach paint, they can mix over 300 different shades of green so should have one somewhere near the same as the tub.

Thanks for the advice looks like nitromors and elbow greese...maybe i organize a landrover stripping party and get it done in a night...
