Interesting thread. Looking at the poll results I notice that of the people who clicked "No" (I don't regret buying a Freelander) one has listed his location as "underneath a Freelander" and another has chosen the name "Feckedfreelander". Which on the face of it indicates that the gentlemen concerned are suffering from PTSD. :D

I never regret buying a freelander - until i read what other people are suffering with.

tbh the issues are repetitive and repairable. Unlike 450 quid for shockers for a Sportage, when i could get them.

"Out of interest, after having owned a Freelander 2, do you regret buying one and wish you had bought something else?

"Our 2008 Freelander 2 caught fire while driving down the road. Minutes later, it burned to the ground. It was absolutely amazing and completely unprovoked. The car had 43, 000 kilometers on it. It was well-maintained; and we're heartbroken. The cause of fire -- who the hell knows? It's gone!"

someones been reading our posts :D
not sure what "49,000 miles to 96,000 miles, it has been undrivable with one problem or another." means tho:confused:

No regrets. I have a leaky heater matrix at the moment which is a bit of a bummer but I have ordered some K Seal to try. If it works I will be well chuffed. I managed to pull a tonne and a half of firewood out of steep muddy woods last weekend with no problems and then sat at 70mph in air conditiond comfort on the drive home. Can't be bad at all. Also, you can meet the nicest people in the hair dressing fraternity.

Common problem caused by moisture leaking into the Ac electrics or heater circuit. There was a re-call for these !
They also have a reputation for the rear wiper seizing up causing an electrical fire !

On my TD4 since Y Reg, having some issues currently but seriously thats it. Love it and have no regrets. Hoping the trouble will be sorted soon and we can make it to 20 years!

I love my Freelander, 52 plate, has lived on my bosses farm its whole life only done 126000 miles to date. Best 800 quid i ever spent while all of the other cars are struggling to get to the farm in the depths of winter it doesnt even bat an eyelid. Total little beast:cool:

absolutely not, bought her facelift diesel been an amazing car she doesn't ever want to let it go even for an evoque! in fact because she has finally fallen "in love" with a car we have bought a series 3 diesel and currently restoring it together as our wedding car for 2012

Brought a 52 plate td4 2 years ago, 1st mot went straight through, 2nd mot today went straight through again, done 74,000 miles had new clutch last may cost £500. I use BP ultimate runs like a dream I have used cheap fuel and had engine clatter will only use supermarket in an emergency, my wife loves the car and it pulls my caravan lovely. On reading Landy Zone I keep waiting for something to go wrong but it hasnt so no I do not regret buying a freelander its great.

nah,i have an 02 petrol and apart from doing head gask myself its been good.whereas my last car honda crv was a john major(reliable bit boring) the hippo is more arthur daley(dodgy and unreliable)but it makes me smile when strange things happen like lights come on when you change radio station ,horn sounds when i open rear door ,ect the only thing what made me smile more was an 1982 series 3 landy..
