I do follow the books 99% of the time as you would see stated in my opening post, but some things I don't go with.

I am working on one thats 33% the size of the real one now. The 3 door 110 landy I have now was for that airplane since it cant fit into my X5. I am planing with one of the clubs here to invite the guys from your side of the pond to vist and fly with us during our annual flying event. We do have a few UK visitors, in fact I would say 80% of the tourists who visit here are from the UK and some are avid rc and full scale pilots.
Are you into aviation too? I think most guys like or are into it.
As for the bolts, yes I took Quakermans advice and installed them. I used locktite and torqued them. I then used the torque wrench in reverse to see if they would break free and they did not..even at 18Nm they were not backing off.

I will definitely look into the thread and post some pics there...and yes I love aircraft and aviation.
I am amazed that your dad was that involved in aviation and you are not, but people have different interests.
You would like one of the hobbies some guys are into, close by to where my home is in Canada...home made steam engines which power ride on mini trains. There is a huge park with mini train tracks and they give free rides to kids and adults. These guys machine everything from scratch, down to the steam whistles..just amazing. They build the train cars and the tracks too, the trains are about 12 cars long and really scale looking.
I was looking at a video clip with the guys starting and running a massive 24 cylinder antique engine the other day, thats another hobby by itself and fun too.

Father was into several branches of engineering, he worked at Avro when he was at college, and then went into Aero. By the time I was around he had gone Mech!
My family are extremely competitive, and I always avoid doing the same as the others. I dont engineer, Dad dont breed no cattle!
I do dabble a bit with eng stuff out of interest, though! The mini steam engines sound just my kind of thing!

Clean the bolts and drill them for wire. Then lock and wire them.
The bolts on the old motors were already drilled. But I assume it's cheaper to micro bond locking compound than drill the bolts.

Wouldnt disagree with that at all, if you can be bothered.
As you say, all that sort of thing used to be lockwired, until the manufacturers realised that using sealant saved a few minutes during assembly.
Need to remember that these bolts also have oil behind them (lubricating the tappet sliders) so the locking compound will also form a seal to stop oil seeping along the threads and out to freedom.
