Do new pagid brake drums come painted on the outside? Going to check mine soon and replace if worn over the limit. Can't be bothered to mess about painting them as the originals I did were a mess.

I contacted ECP to ask if they're painted and they couldn't confirm other than saying "...all our parts are non-painted and they are either black or primed in colour"

U'll probably have to paint it mate. They so a mild primer type paint that soon disappears and then goes rusty making it look lovely behind ur clean alloys. Lovely! NOT!

your local powder coating guy should be able to match them with your favourite nail varnish colour :)

Tried using hammer rite last time so may give stove paint a try this time then, if they need painted and need replaced. For the money you'd think they could at least paint them for me.

I can't see your original drums being worn tbh. They should last 100K miles!!
I was thinking they would still be good too. I've taken them oft road which is said to wear brakes faster. Shoes, springs and cylinders were all replaced a few months back. MOT man said they were a little lower than he expected but a reasonably good pass. He used the tapley meter thing. I assume he meant the handbrake wasn't as good as expected, rather than normal braking. I plan to have a check/clean of the fronts to see how they're wearing. Normally get about 20k on the front pads before requiring changing. Was going to check the rear setup too just in case there's anything wrong. Don't think there is but I'm still going to check. Handbrake seems to work ok and there's plenty of travel left after it holds. Cables tighten at the same time when applying the handbrake which is a good sign of even-ness I assume. I see the spec is 254mm and if it is 1.5mm greater then it's time to change the drums. Not much of a tolerance but I'll measure them and see. All wheels individually brake ok when filing the TC in action.

Never known brake drums ready painted, mine were just coated in preservative greasy stuff. Sprayed mine with stove paint which has lasted almost 2 years.

I take my prop off for the summer which means it gets an Mot in FWD mode. This is good as it gets put on the brake rollers which is much better at showing brake balance. Last Mot brake results were
Front left 550 Kg's
Front right 545 Kg's
Rear left foot brake 440 Kg's
Rear right foot brake 450 Kg's
Handbrake left 450 Kg's
Handbrake right 460 Kg's
All of which is well above the requirement for a fully loaded Freelander V6
