Do P38's really have this many problems?

I've had mine since Jan & touchwood everything is going ok. TD is not that much of a slouch either. If you can afford the petrol version than maybe that's what you need to get if you want speed. Me i just prefer the comfort.

Guys I have to agree with Irish Medic..

I did a lot of research before buying my P38, and decided the TD6 with its 2.9 Diesel was the best one for me, but when I actually sat in one, it just didnt feel right, and was not comfortable for me at all, so I scrapped the idea alltogether, and decided to buy an X5 instead. Then I checked out a P38 2.5 for sale locally, sat in it, found it was so comfortable, I could live in it, took it for a test drive, found it had enough power for me, and took the plunge..

How it will span out, I dont know, only time will tell, but to me, comfort is of more importance than 0 to 60 speed.

Just my 2p worth..

Hi,
Im looking into buying a P38 in the future, not sure which one yet tho. It will either be the 2.5D or the 4.0 V8 with a LPG conversion.

Anyway, been doing a bit of research and do they really have this many problems?

Range Rover P38/4.0/4.6 Common Problems and Fixes

Thanks,
Lee

I've had mine for about 4 months (4.6 V8) . I've driven about 2500 miles in it and so far the engine hasn't exploded, nor has anything else terrible gone wrong. I've thoroughly enjoyed owning it so far. When I was concidering buying a rangie I came here also and was worried about the number of problems I saw, as others have said the average person will only post when something is wrong so you get a skewed perspective. How many cars can you buy from 10-20 years old and not expect faults with them?

Main issue I've had is the occasional problem from the EAS, I have a kicker to reset it if it does happen and when it goes for its service I'll get them to take a look. I also want to get the adaptor for the ipod, it replaces the CD autochanger. The factory stereo I have is very nice so I don't want to change it.
