Do i really want it?

If it really was my baby, I wouldn't have lost it in the first place. I guess there will come a time when I have to say goodby to Compo, my trusty series 3. It will be sad but there is only so much I can do or afford.

V8 and soft top

you know you want to :)

Argghhh, i know!

The price is an issue now, not for want of availability, but it's not worth the money he's asking. I'm going to strip it back to the chassis and start again, possibly spending 4-5k on it over the next 2 years, so i have to engage the head again and think about what the future of her is. Do i build her back up and have her as a toy, which is kinda where i was before i had a good look.

The other option is to rebuild for future sale which may get me my money back and i would've enjoyed the experience of another landy build...of the same landy...again!

What it owes him from a standing point of 2.3k, he's happy to leave it sat there rather than lose money on it.

So the question i have to ask is; is it worth the investment? Do i delve into another expensive hobby or walk away.

I know if it was any other landy in this condition for this price, i wouldn't be asking myself this, i wouldve walked away..

Head vs the Heart again!

They hold their value well. Doubt if you will lose in the long run.

But if it was me, I would re-injun with a petrol engine. Diesels are going to be hammered on road tax soon, and V8 or 2.5 petrol are good engines.

A lot of people know this, so you should be able to beat him down on price. Land Rover prices are not as firm as a few years ago.

@Oldseadog Ive had mine a year so probably not long enough yet no! I do get the sentimental value of it, I guess only you can decide what it’s worth to you. I don’t suppose you’d regret it when you stand back and look at the finished product.

I've only had this one for 15 years, and she was a wreck when I got her!
Capitalising on around 30+ years of having Series, she has been almost rebuilt by my own fair hands, and she cruises at the legal speed limit all day without missing a beat, and returns 30+mpg!
So, yes, I suppose that I am quite attached to her!
Unfortunately, after being run over in January, my days of spannering her are limited, although I still use my stethoscope to listen to her 'heartbeat', which lets me know if anything needs adjusting or replacing!

Very sorry to hear you have been run over, OSD! :(

Thanks for that Turbo. ;)
It happened in a car park back in January, and my left wrist has had to be rebuilt 4 times, my shoulder is still suffering from a swollen bursar (whatever that is, but it's painful!), my hip is healed, but still sore,, and I'm undergoing physio for my foot and ankle. Apart from those minor details, I'm fine :D:D
In a way I'm pleased that it happened to me, and not some little old person or a child, as I'm quite fit, even though, I will never regain more than 40% of the use and articulation of it! :(:(
Not to worry though, in a few years time, hopefully, some of the strength may have returned ...:p:cool::p

That sounds like a total pain in the butt! :( Or, to be more accurate, in the shoulder and wrist.

Hope your recovery goes well, apologies if you have posted about it before, but I had no idea. Sometimes I take off on my boat for a bit and don't bovver wiv LZ or internet stuff.
Get well soon, mate! ;)

My competitive days of sailing and deliveries are also over, and so no longer will I be able to take a week or so off to deliver yachts or powerboats to the Med or round the country!
To say that I'm more than just a little bit peed off would be something of an understatement!!
It's all a matter of living with it and making out as best I can! However, my rock is my wonderful wife, without whom, I would probably have gone off the rails by now!!

Cheers.

Health stuff can be pretty life changing. Fortunately I seem to have got over my heart episode earlier in the year unscathed, but it did bring home to me the importance of doing what I want while I still can.
Life is short, and the further you go, the more you will see! :D

Hope you are back on the water soon, or under the bonnet of yer landy, whichever is your fancy. And good that yer missus is looking after you! :)

Goodness! That sounds just awful. I hope your legal team are doing a good job for you and get you all the cover you need.!
My accident-related shoulder injury is minor in comparison to your catalogue of damage, and while the repair has been done successfully it irks me that I will never, ever be able to shoot a bow again even though I am at 80% of capacity (the risks are too great).
To lose your livelihood as well as a pastime you clearly enjoyed must be doubly galling. Wive's are just the best when you have been laid-low aren't they?
I hope your path to optimum recovery is swift. Good Luck!

My legal team are working on it, and I have an interim assessment next month.
I have had an offer from his insurance, but I turned down a chip butty and a packet of crisps! The tight fisted b'stards didn't even throw in a mug of tea!:eek:
