Do I need a new engine ? (200tdi )

Hi Guys,

My defender pumps out a load if black smoke when I accelerate.
Is this a sign that my 200tdi is on the way out ?
 
Does sound like excessive fuel as stated, these motors are not that expensive to rebuild if you have the time.
Probably not even in need of a rebuild yet but whatever the prob is DONT scrap it!! getting damn hard to find decent replacements so better off fixing the one you have, they last beyond many other makes and parts are fairly cheap.
 
My 200tdi does this too, pump not tweaked either.
It passes a little oil through the turbo as it has for 10 years now, won't touch mine till it lets go and even then it'll be £400 to rebuild it and it will still smoke I'm sure.
