DIY EAS diagnostics for the Classic

Not too sure what you are looking at. For the EAS, the manual I have shows a 5 pin connecter, but with only 4 pins in use. In post 10 above, there is a picture of the 14CUX connector I got confused over; showing only 3 pins in use. The EAS and 14CUX connectors are the same shape. The differences are:

connector.......EAS..............14CUX
colour............black.............white
pins...............4..................3

My RR is a 93 LSE, so there may some difference to your 94, but I'm told not.

p.s. Just in case. The EAS and 14CUX are under the right hand seat (drivers in the UK). Under the left hand seat is a blue ABS connector, different shape though.

A final one before the test...

Shall the fourth cabel connect to the fourth pin in the EAS diag socket?
The manual only describes 3 cables and where they shall go?! :confused:

I don't want to damage the box... or the laptop. :rolleyes:

for the Classic cable diagram.

I should warn you, although I'm helping to answer questions, I haven't actually got my cable to work yet!

I have read the manual but still no info on the fourth cable... :confused:
Have you connected the fourth cable to the last free pin on the AES diag connector?

I have made the cable and will make some tests tonight...

Hi again!

I tested the cable earlier tonight... it worked perfectly :D
Got connected on the first attempt, unlocked the EAS and everything works again. Just need to calibrate the sensors...

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have adquired the cable to RSW Solutions. I have a doubt: In the main cable, from where the diagnosis cable
comes from, there are spare cables, that connect in between them. Two
are female (one is Black/red and the other is Black/blue), and one
male which is Purple/red. The male connector can plug in either female
connector. I have searched info for this cables in the Rave and other
papers, but cant find what are they for.

Which is the correct configuration?? what are those cables for??
 
Big thanks to Rishi. He of course figured all the Classic connector stuff out. This is the schematic I use for constructing the Classic Cable.

As for my last post in which I asked for what is it a strange connector in the electrical EAS system, I have taken a photo in the hope that someone can please help me.... Lets see is someone has something to say

That appears to be the EAS Computer Diagnostic plug. The diagnostic plug is located under the Driver Seat (RHD). The plug should be self terminated and have four wires.
To use the Classic EAS Serial Cable, you would need to unplug the terminated EAS computer diagnostic plug and connect your own cable.

FYI:
The terminator on the EAS Computer Diagnostic plug, provides a ground path back to the EAS computer so that it can be powered up.
 
Hello, I feel I have not explained correctly.

I all ready have the EAS diagnosis cable to connect to my pc, so of course I know which is the diagnose connector. My question is a strange white connector in the EAS cables, just 10cm from the EAS ECU connector, that no one seams to know what if for. You can see it clearly in the photo, just behind the EAS diagnose connector.

I know its been a long time but is there any chance you can send me a step by step guide on how to make the cable and also the software? If I request you to make it for me how much would you charge?

Yes all the software will work on any Classic model with EAS and all P38a's. The only difference is the cable required.

If you download the EASDiag package from sourceforge you will find a readme which explains how to make the cable for the Classic. For people who can't manage it I am prepared to make cables. There is a lot of extra background information on rangerovers.net/forum under the Diagnostics Systems forum.
