Having no luck finding a 130 crew cab at the right price
so ive been considering making my own 150

far as ican see i just need to weld another rear half chassis after the rear springs i would remove the internals from the extra axle so it not dragging this would give me the load area to fit a decent chip box

has anybody done this before ?

is there more to it?

how would vosa feel lol?

So you can't find a secondhand 130 in the right price range - and you think just welding another section to a 110 is cheaper? Strange logic but don't let us stop you. I'd imagine its going to work out more expensive, and end up weighing a bit more than you imagined. Sure, the extra axle in theory would mean extra GVW, but the engine would be the same. Also if you're asking what would VOSA feel, then its clear that you don't have the engineering know-how to re-plate the vehicle to a higher weight - so a loss there, not a gain. Finally, 6x4 with a drag axle is going to impact the off road ability. If you are happy with less off road ability, maybe a Transit would be a better choice of vehicle to start with? With a decent GVW and dual rears (6 tyres on the ground, 4 of them driven....sounds familiar?) it wouldn't be a million miles away from your first idea.

Another thing....where did you get "150" from? If you add another axle, its going to be AT LEAST the diameter of the tyre away from the other one, plus an allowance for a little clearance. So more like 160" wheelbase from 1st to 3rd axle.

vosa would require it to have a Q plate as it would have a radically altered chassis

hi all i have a budget of 5-6000 am i being unrealistic for a 130 200 300tdi

Im a arborist i have a transit tipper as my work truck it might have 4 wheels driven at the rear but if you have ever driven one they get stuck on wet grass

i can weld but my best friend is a plant machinery engineer hed be taking charge but neither of us have had dealings with vosa

i need the extra lenght for the chip box

sorry i saw the 150 term on the foley website thats how they describe their six six conversion from 110 and 130 to 180

£5000 - £6000 will get you a 130 tipper then all you would need to do is make the tipper bed into a box

making it a 6x6 will cost you loads! the last drive through LR axle i saw on ebay went for over £1k! in a well used condition
