Hi all.
I have had and used a single pin Dixon-Bate for ages now, but it was second-hand when I got it, although from a good source, (my son in law).
Now I think I should uprate it to a twin pin.
Does anyone know if I can buy just the twin pin bit and it'll fit to the single pin mounting plate or do I need to go further than that and basically buy a whole unit?
To the cognoscenti this'll be a dumb question I am sure but I thought I'd ask on here before doing any further digging.
TIA
Stan

Arb make have smaller pins but are double holes.make sure you get compatible parts

Just wondering why do you want 2 pins?
I think my single pin is getting a bit worn and I want to be sure that no accident could happen through this or anything else.
I haven't looked closely but I assumed a twin pin, with same sized pins, would be twice as strong. which is more or less what @V8bob seems to be saying. I do get that the frame and mounting bolts etc wouldn't get strengthened by my doing this, but at the mo I think the pin and the sliding part of the mount is the weak point in my whole towing system. It does tend to clank a little bit, so there is play there. Probably normal, but nevertheless.....
I can see I'll have to look at the stuff to do with the properties and the strengths of both DB and ARB, If I am going to change the whole shooting match.

I suppose that I also have to take into consideration that there would be corresponding wear on the holes of the DB frame, so maybe not such a clever idea to just get a twin pin DB.
I doubt changing it over for either DB or ARB would be that expensive.

Thanks for your thoughts lads!

Slide a split hose pipe down the ladder behind the drop plate. Takes all the rattles away.

Iv never worried about the DB system. Towed everything with this set up and always single pin. I like I can change from pin to nato hitch
Can't do it now, but I'll put up a pic of the wear on the pin so peeps have something concrete to look at.
