Hi need advice about my ageing discovery td5. Loud whine coming from somewhere when switched off and keys removed. After some investigation it turned out to be front window washers (disconnected them as a quick fix) and when I started up the front wipers will now not turn off. Have replaced wiper motor and switch and also checked fuses but problem remains. Dad does all my fixing as hes good at it and cheaper than local stealer and not until now has any problem became such a long term problem. Reverse lights also not working and have read that the switch that controls them could be faulty which can lead to wiper system failure. Going to check it tomorrow and if that fails then next stop will be the bcu. Has anyone out there experienced a similar problem or is this another example of just my luck. Been one thing after another with my usually reliable disco over the last few months. Main issue here is that diagnostics cannot locate the problem.

The contacts in the stalks fail with age, can get worse the colder the weather is too. Might be worth grabbing a used set off ebay and replacing as a first stab. Checking the BCU for water ingress also a good idea.
