Discovery Td5 Fuel Problem

Hi all,
My 2000 model td5 disco has developed a fuel leak which my mechanic first thort was just a washer gone on the pipes that go onto the fuel filter housing on the rear drivers side wheel area,having replace these the leak is still their,he is now saying I need to have the filter housing replaced,as this is going to cost just over £200 to have done I thort id check to see if this a known fault or if it could be anything else ?
Any advise would be much appreciated.

Are you sure its not the water sensor that's leaking. Over tightening can split them, or the washer can be away.

Its definately fuel it stinks of diesel and you can see it all over the filter and housing
