Discovery Mountain bike

The latest LRM mag has gotten me thinking about an old mountain bike I have stashed away. The article I am referring to was very interesting, the very early days of project Jay as it was known as back then. I've heard of the G WAC's but nothing of the prototype mules & was hoping the article may have shown some press release pics revealing whether the Raleigh Mountain bike with the Discovery name & logo on it was offered to new owners along with their new Discovery's. Or, if anyone knows differently, whether the Mountain bike with its oval (no, I'm not joking) main drive cog (peddle) was merely a promotion through cycle dealerships only? Has anyone seen the aforementioned bike alongside an early Discovery at any shows & did they get to speak to the owners? The conversation between Raleigh (now sadly defunct) & Landrover at the time before the Discovery's release must have been an interesting one considering the leaks to the public about a new vehicle emerging from Landrover!

Good grief. They defiled mountain bikes too.
