The clutch is going on my 51 plate Discovery. Been given a price to replace it at my local garage (around £450) unless it has a dual mass clutch which will be a lot more.
Is there a way to identify which clutch type it has?

it will have dual mass all td5s do you can get full kit clutch and dual mass for £400ish,plus labour if you gety someone else to fit it

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, from how they spoke at the garage I understood there may be different types fitted. £400 is about what he quoted for a dual mass clutch plus labour.
I was told a while ago that its the thrust bearing that's going (car 'growls' when clutch pedal pressed) can just this be replaced without the flywheel?

no theres only one cluctch /flywheel unless some ones fitted or is to fit after market solid conversion type, clutch isnt dual mass as such you need flywheel which is too, ie 4 piece kit ,if noise goes when pedal fully depressed and only squeals at 1/2 pedal its spigot bush in the end of crank

Just looked on here regarding spigot bush, someone had similar problem, mine started off only making a noise when engine cold and mainly when reversing, now does it when hot or cold and much louder but does go when pedal fully depressed. Is changing the spigot bush a big job?

reversing because you have your foot on the clutch ,not once box is out ,but often bush needs reaming to fit shaft i have a spare input shaft i check with
