Hi all,
Looooooong time lurker and first time poster!
I am trying to solve a suspension error on my D4 with the AMK compressor. I think I have gone about things logically in the fault finding but I am now at the stage where I am stumped!
The issue started a couple of weeks ago when I first got a permanent "Suspension Fault" error code with bong and amber dashboard warning when starting the car (orange light remains on) when driving. I read the fault codes with my iCarsoft LRV3 reader and confirmed it was an issue with the exhaust valve. After doing some research on the forum I set about servicing the dryer and exhaust valve and was surprised to see everything looking relatively clean including the filters and aggregate. I continued on regardless and refitted everything only to find the fault code reappeared after clearing it.
Convinced that it must be an issue with the compressor itself (and seeing an AMK pattern part recommended on here) I decided to part with a fairly small sum for a replacement which I fitted the following day. Cleared the codes but STILL the "C1A36-01 Exhaust Valve" error persisted.
What may be a red herring is that I also now get a red dashboard warning to drive below 30mph which goes away and comes on again as I pass the 30mph threshold. This only happens when I have nothing in the boot! If I have 30KG of stuff in the boot it doesn't happen! No other warnings or fault codes are stored alongside this though!
It did prompt me to wonder whether I had an issue with a height sensor but after looking at the live data on all four corners they seem fine. Reading accurately, correct supply and signal voltage, nothing out of the ordinary.
Whilst looking at the live data I can see that the exhaust valve is apparently open 100%. Via iCarsoft I can close it in 5% increments and according to the tool it is actually closing. This tells me (so long as iCarsoft is correct) that there is no issue with the electronics controlling the valve. The Exhaust Valve current reading is 0.12amps and the Gallery pressure is 735Pa, both of which mean nothing to me but might to you!
So, I am after some advice as to where to go from here.
Thoughts I have at this point:
- Both the old compressor / exhaust valve solenoid AND the replacement are buggered
- Perhaps a blockage in the exhaust pipework coming off the unit (the valve shows fully open but perhaps the air can't vent?)
- The new compressor is not compatible with the car's software? (How reliable is iCarsoft for live reading of the exhaust valve position?)
Any other ideas?!
