And so my very expensive part has now arrived

Gwyn Lewis Double Cardan front propshaft

Should last a while... obviously will be taken extra care of regularly greasing as I am not having this thing fail lol

hope you've got 7.5 tonne on your licence as that will thing will put you in the bracket once fitted! massive!!

I've got the rear wide angle one to order in the new year as well! :D be interesting to see the total weight of my landy once all the gear is fitted lol

Maybe I should hold off putting the middle row seats for a while lol...

Yeah exactly haha, although the new BFG's weigh a lot less than the special tracks that i had before lol

Got the prop fitted at the weekend, easy job. Filled all the nipples up with grease before fitting. Can't begin to describe how smooth it is to drive now. If you have the spare cash, get one of these. Even if your current one is adequate for your lift, these really help out to smooth out the drive.

Comparison photo, it's beefy!

Easy as changing a propshaft to fit, worth mentioning though that a standard propshaft bolt removal tool doesn't fit on the double cardan side so you have to use a round spanner end on the nut. There are cut outs that perfectly allow for this.

and then for a bit of a flex!

Even the most flex I could get on my "test area" I couldn't get the propshaft to bind so no worries there.

Took it for a drive on main roads, country roads and everything seems okay now. No real issues to report apart from it's a noisy old land rover now I've removed all the carpets and sound deadening!! Oh well, all is good.

Thinking next to get is wide arches +50mm and some 30mm wheel spacers just to bring out the track a bit. Should help stability too, which is already fine with the wider wheels.

In the new year I'm going to get a wide angle rear propshaft and hopefully save for a rear locker of some kind. Then potentially a LSD up front but we'll see. That's over a grand of extras!! I'll use it and abuse it over the winter from now and I'll see where we get.

Lastly, first recovery mission. Although not off road. Brothers Corsa battery died. Nothing exciting (that's him in the photo not me). He said it's "f***in' massive!!" lol. I just liked the photo.

First proper trip out laning in a while, was out for a good 3-4 hours. Enjoyed the day, nothing hard at all as it was just laning but was nice to get out. Some very deep puddles in places briefly above the sills.

Potentially off to a pay day on the 13th but unsure yet, will definitely put it through it's paces!

I agree, I'd love a decent roof rack at some point in the future.

Next is plastic arches and wheels spacers. Finally get round to fitting diff guards, I currently have one and have had it for over a year but it's one of those things that you just need to get up and do lol.

Likewise with my straight through exhaust and drag link bar + steering damper, they need to be fitted as well. steering damper bushes are buggered and the damper isn't too great either so I am toying with the idea of getting a RTC damper but unsure as of now.

Just sat and read the whole thread! Top work mate keep it up! Pretty much everything i wanna do with my 90 but its my first one and I'm new to messing with cars/4x4s as I've always been into my motocross.

Some great reading this, keep up the good work Tomushh!

Thanks for the kind words, am trying!

Thanks mate :) I grew up around motorbikes and trials riding, had a Yamaha TY175 (old but never liked newer bikes) good fun. I have a motorbike now as well, enduro style (Yamaha TW125 as i'm still a learner). Need to get out in it more!

It's quite a bug modifying cars, every car I have own i've put my own twist on, can get costly but don't smoke or drink and that's my way of justifying the cost ;)

Glad to hear the pictures are working, was a bit worried I'd have to go through and redo it all!

Thanks mate, definitely had lots of fun on only a handful of outings. Done less than 300 miles in it since buying it but planning on putting a few more on in this year rather than it sitting doing nothing!
