Discovery 300tdi clutch replacement.

Tommorow we have a discovery 300tdi clutch replacement in our workshop.
Im just fishing for a few tips if anybody has knowlage on what there like to fit etc?
Weve orderd a oem clucth and heavy duty fork for the job, also going to replace the crank seal while we are in there.
Ive been searching for a "how to thread" but cant find it.

any tips welcome thanks

no real tips apart from its heavy!
remove gear knobs before you drop it. (undo clamp on main stick)
novice did it in our shop in about 5 hours

ohh yes its one heavy lump. First one weve ever done, took us 6 hours, taking it steady.

if anybody else in derbyshire requires a clutch fitting in a discovery one, were fitting them at £150 + parts.

Well your crazy! Lol, we rang a specialist near us and they quoted £450 + parts. There easy enough just heavy work

Just replaced the clutch on my 98 Disco, I have no ramp so went down the engine out route. worked really well, easy out easy in. Just loads of fiddley bits to remove and refit.

Whilst you are down there grease up those parts with copper grease and replace the clutch fork whilst down there... Both times I have replaced a clutch it is because the clutch fork gave way...

Yeahh we've done the job now, we were going to got for the engine out route but opt'd not too, I wasnt difficult just heavy work, we also changed the fork for a heavy duty one and replaced the slave cylinder

Did mine in one day plus parts used two X 3 ton trolley jacks several brews and sandwich lunch 'n' I'm an old git! ( 9am to 5.30pm )

If you think these boxes are heavy, try a ZF box in a narrow chassis Magirus Deutz with only a few railway sleepers and a small pull/lift Tirfor.
