Discovery 3 2.7 TDI 2008 engine only stops when lights switched off

Oh god that reply went a bit wrong, not sure how I managed to sandwich it into your comment...I do have a multimeter but I don't know the 1st thing about vehicle electronics so I'm not sure how far i'd get
 
As a side note plse , when u do change things like wishbones , struts etc it’s normally better to change them as a pair
Don't mind at all, I only did the one side because a previous owner had clearly changed the other side recently, as it looked new and in good shape, although evwn so it did feel a bit wrong just doing the one side.
but no point worrying about things like that at the moment , it was just a note and hope u didn’t mind me mentioning it

No probs, ur be surprised after having the alignment done, ask for the Hunter system as u get a full printout before and after the adjustment , bet it drives like a new motor after if the alignment is indeed out

no probs, plus must admit when I bought mine it took me a year to sort out the bodges , had mine 5 x years now after virtually ripping the thing apart , lol

adore the thing , never known a motor to be so comfortable as the disco is , like many of us I’ve had landies 30 x years and this is my favourite so far

oh and just remembered , has the timing belts and upgraded oil pump cover been changed plse , yeh, yeh, I know more to think about , lol

Ha, I know what you mean, they're a great bit of kit. I use mine for work (tree surgery) pulling a trailer on smaller jobs and need it to go in farmer's fields etc. It's great.
I've bought a timing belt kit from AF with all the pulleys and idlers and the aux belt, but haven't fitted yet. Got the timing kit too. Strongly considering paying a mechanic to do it though considering the fun I had just changing the wishbone lol. Had to cut the thing to bits to get it off! Do you recommend doing the oil pump at the same time? Thanks!

awesome u like it as indeed think u find a particular landy u like

indeed , a 100000000% to change the oil pump cover, they have an upgraded one , the old ones the idler can snap off the oil pump cover

Pics of old and new , plus personally would buy a genuine one, another pic of what happens when the idler snaps

the new pump has a reinforced corner, think the genuine oil pump are around £200 , but well worth it considering the consequences, I had a genuine one , including front and rear timing belts , idlers , even the water pump as everything was off

Talking of wishbones, wait till u do the rear uppers, lol , also had to cut them off, where complete @&#(*-//#/#

Also forgot to ask, when u done ur wishbone , when u done up the bolts was the wishbones hanging down or back on it’s wheels plse

Apologies for all the questions just checking other things that can cause HDC errors , cheers

Awesome and once again didn’t want to come across in trying to teach u how to suck eggs, just so we can get a base line of what’s been done , indeed fronts from bottom of wheel arch to centre of wheel hub 465mm

it’s just so the bushes don’t tear themselves apart if there not loaded properly , so it’s just the 4 x wheel alignment that needs doing , brilliant
