Discovery 200 or 300

Hi

Just a quick question, did the 200 change to 300 in 1994?? if so if I buy something registered after 1994 it will be a 300 right??? The one I am looking at is a 1995 on a M

Hi paul, yes the 300tdi was introduced in '94, mine's a '94 on a 'm' plate!
They are known as the '95 model.

The easiest tell tale for me is the door handles.

square flappy paddles flush with the door skin = 200tdi

Banana-shaped handles bolted to the door at each end (if you use your imagination) = 300tdi onwards

let me get this right then. My tdi has flappy handles,but i thought it was a 300tdi, but its not!

I have got a 1998 Tdi 300 and it has the flappy handles.

I have looked into that statement about the handles, and I dont think its right, cause all the advertised TDI's 300's have the flappy handle's and not the banana type, the only type i found with the banana is the model from 300 TDI onwards.

SO I think we are all safe..

By the way I have now viewed five, I really cant find a decent cheap low mileage machine anywhere, dealers are wanting 5 plus for 1996 or earlier with like 150k on it or more, dont think so...... I guess its a bad time of year to buy. Also all the ones I have seen have rot in the rear floor, and the dealers have been giving me funny looks when I pull the carpet up and look. So you see by reading this forum u can learn alot... Thanks guys

i think don't quote me!
200tdi finished around the L reg, i think, then the 300tdi started then they carried on with this as far as a v reg, then this became the new td5 with the banana handles.

there was a crossover period where you can get a 300 upto a v reg also a TD5 on a t reg onwards

200tdi has sherpa van square headlights and 300tdi has shaped oned that meet the grill.
