I need of some help/advice I've recently got around to fitting a replacement gearbox in my discovery 2 but it has been sitting for a few years and the battery had died so the immobiliser has stopped the car from starting I managed to get the immobiliser off a few times with the key fob but now it's doing nothing I ordered a new key but it does not seem to want to let me program it with out the immobiliser being turned off. I have tried the eka code but it does nothing I even thought maybe I had the wrong one so paid to check and I do indeed have the right code. The horn does not beep after putting the code in at all.

Yeah can hear the horn at the start. Just took the door lock to bits and put the code in using a screwdriver and it seems to have worked just can't seem to pick up the new key now the old fob does nothing but it seems to be the old fob has had it

A new fob needs programming with dedicated tester otherwise it's useless and if you have proper diagnostic tool run a RF test to check the receiver
