Hi.......i have the 98 v8 4.0 es.

I love the mix of comfort + utility that you get....i allways had Discoverys (200/300) then Range Rover classics then went for a p38 4.0, nice but problomatic, eventually came back to this d2.......which was brill and a joy for 10,000 miles......but the engine died.......however it is comfortable, very usefull, easy to keep clean in side, posh when you need it to be and chuck the dogs in the back the rest of the time........i wouldn't buy another Range Rover simply because of the "beep of doom"....heard it too many times.

Nick.

Auto's are fine especially for towing. I've had four disco's all auto and never had a problem. Just taken command of TD5 premium auto.

ive had 3 manuals, 1 auto, hated it with a passion, you arn't in control like a manual, so got rid after 2 weeks and got another manual, ive driven from a young age, lots of different vehicles, different terrain, manual is my way! but horses for courses, Although we have a SLE 7840 and must say it's been good!!

25 years with LR autos never found it a problem, even my other weekend car with it's steering wheel paddles I leave it in auto, both my company and wifes cars are auto..

Why would you want to keep pressing a clutch peddle? what is it "Not in control"? unfortunately I still own a classic car which has one. :D

I may be wrong but going on the test drives I've had with LRs products they are all auto now.
