Hey guys,

I bought a 2002, Discovery 2, manual, commercial (only two seats) on Friday. It's great I love it.

Major problem this morning though....
When I tried to start it up this morning, nothing. Now after reading through the majority of threads on this issue, I can't work it out.
I thought at first there may be a problem with the immobiliser, as the coil goes out and the engine does not start. But I've noticed that immobilisers red lights do go out, so surely the immobiliser is off. I've tried to ring Landrover, but they are not open today.

I really need to got back to university tonight... any ideas???

Cheers,

Jamie

Sometimes the ignition switches on these act up. Take the cover off the steering housing (6 star screws) so you can get at the large rubber protector on the back of the switch. Push on this in the direction of the key while trying your key in the starter. It might work.

sounds like its dropped the feed from the ignition to the starter or the starter solonoid is u/s. Try taking the ignition feed off the starter and then refitting it again. Fingers crossed it's just a dirty connection.

had this with mine. started with trying to start it first thing in the morning. Nothing when key was turned. after several attempts it would fire in to life. after a while it wouldnt start at all. turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator leaking fuel onto the starter motor and killing it

yes the little black clip the wire that just clips on the starter go under drivers side take it off give it a clean and try
