The problem with those cheap keys without the code on the pcb is that the barcode which contains the short code as you well deduced is fake or something. A friend of mine bought two of them (£50 on amazon) and i wasnt able to program neither of them as the code didnt work(not even the long code with hawkeye) so if you can better send that key back and ask for refund cos you might borrow nanocom in vain then you wasted 50 quid and better get a key from here https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover-...overy-2-discovery-series-2-year-1999-to-2006/ then the total cost for you will be £94.99 for a certainly working key

Thanks Sierrafery

I did try that company it was my first choice from a previous posting, problem is they do not have any 315MHz keys which I need as my Disco is a Jap import.

I bought a UK one of e bay and paid £50 for it which came with 16 digit code and the PCB matched.trouble his its 433Mhz.

Th key I have now came from the USA.

I think it might be easier to switch the ECU for central locking to 433Mhz, but have read its a main dealer job.

Whilst its nice to have a Jap import because of rust,I have learnt that its not the samosas most of you know, had issues with keys, radio and alarm system.

No such thing, all you have to replace is the RF receiver with 433Mhz one which is not expensive then the 433Mhz fob will work once programmed.

Greetings all,
I bought a back up key for my Disco and it seems to be a copy came with two long codes.Lights up.

The label top code is NA7CD6AA7CD69FF and below is another one with lots of FFs.

I think the top one is the number I need for a nano com unit to program a new key. The key does not have a label inside on the PCB.

I think the code would be A7CD6A by looking at the top number. I worked this out from another key which did have a label on the PCB and a label with the two 16 digit ones.

I understand from watching videos thatI use the 6 digit code to programme it in.

I plan to hire a nano com for a day to do this, so need to be sure I am right and hope one of you clever men can tell me if I am wrong or have lost the plot .

I was going to buy a nano com,but was surprised they are very expensive, so cannot do this, hire is best I can do,....Hope you all can help?
Where about are you?
I have a nanocom in Plymouth if you need to use it to program keys.
Let me know.

Thank you I am about 100 miles from you, thank you for the kind offer.
I decided I will buy one, when things are a bit easier and have a go at it myself.

If you buy nanocom and the key you bought from ebay was a used one not new from china you can try to synk it as it is then no other action is required
